STING is an energy drink brand marketed by Suntory-PepsiCo Vietnam. Sting was first annouced in Vietnam market in 2002, with only one flavour. In Vietnam, Sting is originally available in Gingsen flavor (Gold color), then Strawberry (Red) and in 2019 it released Sting Espresso (coffee flavor).
These products are sold out as glass bottle, PET bottle, and can. Strawberry is considered “a cow” of Suntory-Pepsico because of its sales. Pepsico made Sting strawberry to create a difference in the energy market among other traditional yellow-color energy drinks, and also a different taste to avoid competing directly against big name like Redbull. Strawberry flavour is a taste that not only men, but women prefer, too. You can see now the logo of Sting a in red color, the color of its primary product.
Following a market survey by Nielsen in 2014, until middle of 2013, Sting leads the energy drink market in Vietnam consuming 52% of market share. Number 1 – a domestic brand by Tan Hiep Phat Group, stays in the second position with 23% market share. Other brands share the remaining 25%, including Samurai, Red Tiger, Rhino, Lipovitan, … Until now, Sting is still leading the market.
Sting is now popular in these markets: Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, … (information provided by Suntory-Pepsico). But we can make Sting more popular by exporting the brand to other countries & territories.
